• Also in March, a team advised by construction management professor Amine Ghanem placed third in the Multi-Use Construction category in the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) 2012 competition in Reno, Nevada. CSUN student Nicholas Oliver won the Outstanding Student Award.

• CSUN senior, Jay Pastor, won first place in the 2012 National Daniel W. Mead ASCE Student Paper Contest for his paper Globalization and the future of ASCE’s Code of Ethics, earning him a slot to present it at the October ASCE conference in Montreal.

• Computer science student Norvan Gorgi won second place at the SS12: Code for a Cause competition at the CSUN International Conference on Disabilities in San Diego in March.

Seven ECS students and a business student competed in the six-day head-to-head virtual competition. Student teams from universities around the United States were required to maintain network services while being subjected to malicious traffic from their opponent.
