Amy Foote

Ms. Amy Foote is a Director of MESA and an adjunct professor in Biology. She attained her M.S in Biology with a Marine Biology influence from California State University, Northridge in 1999. Working in education is Amy’s passion. As director of MESA, and previously the AIMS2 Program liaison for over 6 years, she has enabled many underrepresented STEM students to receive the support they need to successfully transfer to a four-year university. She is an advocate and advisor for her students at the community college level who is closing the equity gaps in STEM fields for talented students. Amy was recently elected to serve as the President of CCAMD, the MESA Directors Association.

Los Angeles Pierce College

Elizabeth Cheung

Elizabeth (Beth) Cheung currently serves as the Math, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program director for Los Angeles Pierce College. She is a tenured faculty member in engineering. Beth has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a M.Eng. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego. She worked in medical device product development for eight years before joining the faculty at Pierce College in 2010. While at Pierce College, in addition to teaching engineering courses, Beth has served as the department chair for the Industrial Technology Department (2017-2023), a college Guided Pathways Coordinator (2021-2023), and a PI and Co-PI on several federally-funded grants (2011-present).
