A Human Powered Vehicle can be
described as a highly engineered vehicle that may be used on land, in the
water, or in the air. Some land-based HPVs have achieved speeds over 80mph.
The primary focus of the HPV
development is the creativity and elegance of the design, including
practicality, ease of use, and safety. Many areas of engineering problem-solving
are addressed: from machining and material science to stress analysis and fluid
dynamics.
