IEEE Accomplishments
ABET Board of Directors:

  • Elected to serve as one of IEEE’s representatives on the Board.
  • Appointed to the Global Council of the ABET Board.

IEEE-HKN Board of Governors:

  • Elected to serve as Treasurer and helped organize the budget for IEEE-HKN and establish priorities in alignment with the Board’s long term strategic plans.
  • Helped revitalize dormant Chapters and encourage the formation of new Chapters
  • Served on the selection committee for the IEEE-HKN Outstanding Student Award

IEEE EAB:

  • Chaired the Awards and Recognition Committee to solicit nominations for EAB awards, and worked with the ARC and IEEE EAB Staff to review nominations and make recommendations to the EAB to recognize recipients
  • Represented EAB on the IEEE Awards Board.
  • Served as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE e-Learning Library Editorial Board to manage reviews and evaluate content on a variety of topics for a global IEEE audience.
  • Served on the ABET nominating committee to recommend to EAB the person(s) to serve on the ABET Board of Directors.
  • Recruited judges and mentors for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2011) in Los Angeles
  • Helped organize and host a TISP workshop in Los Angeles in April 2008
  • Contributed to the Try Engineering Initiative in 2007

IEEE Region 6 Central Area Chair:

  • Developed industry support for IEEE members
  • Organized career fairs to serve the career needs of IEEE members
  • Created templates for Area meetings and the Roles and Responsibilities of Area Chairs that were incorporated in the Region 6 Operations Manual

Technical Activities: 

Student Activities:
As Branch Counselor, Section Student Activities Chair, and Area Student Activities Chair for over 16 years:

  • Guided Student Branches to organize Student Professional Awareness Conferences
  • Inspired Student Branch Officers to remain active and transition to Section level leadership roles
  • Developed and supported a Student Design Contest (unique to Central area)
  • Promoted membership and retention
    • CSUS Student Branch received the 2003 RAB Membership Award for Region 6
    • CSUN Student Branch received the Best Student Branch award in Region 6 in 2006 and 2007

Pre-University Activities:

  • Appointed as Chair of the IEEE Pre-University Education Coordinating Committee for 2014
  • Contributed to the TISP and Try Engineering initiatives on the IEEE EAB
  • Recognized with the Region 6 Community Service Award in 2003 for my leadership in promoting pre-engineering programs with teachers in K-12
