The objectives of the current research
topic are:
· Estimate globally a new passive structural control building technique called Earthquake-Protective Building Buffer (click on picture). · Verify whether, when and how effectively it can be utilized for the housing projects. · Work out appropriate practical recommendations for architects and engineers. · Implement the new technique into a real project for a field-testing. |
| The research is both analytical and
experimental. It includes shake table experiments with small-scale building
models and will address the following specific PATH
goals:
· Improve durability of new housing. · Reduce risk of life, injury, and property destruction from earthquake hazards. |
