Uses of Computers Assignment

Due: Wednesday 9/10/2008

Find a current example of the use of computers that either improves the ability of people to function in the world or one that has a detrimental effect on individuals or society. A simple example of the first might be an Internet site that checks freeway conditions in real time so someone can pick the best route for a trip. An example of the second might be an Internet site that prepares term papers for students for a price. For the computer application you select answer the following:

1. What does the application do? (Describe in some detail the capabilities of the application and how it works.)
2. Why does this help people or why is it a detriment to individuals or society? (It could be both good and bad.)
3. Who developed and/or provides this application?
