GUIDELINES
FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this assignment is to present
a brief summary of your group project(s). Each group will have fifteen minutes
to present answers to questions. Each member of the group must participate in
the oral presentation. Because of the time constraints, it will be essential
for individuals to practice out loud and time their presentation.
PREPARATION:
- As a group, discuss all the questions and come to consensus about
your answers. Select those questions that you wish to discuss in front of
the class.
- Each member of the group should take responsibility for responding
to one question or at least part of a question.
- One person should be designated as the person to introduce the
panel.
- Individuals should prepare brief notes that answer the question.
- Visual aids should be prepared to highlight the main points and
facilitate the understanding of the material presented.
- Organize your remarks clearly.
- Practice your presentation out loud, timing your remarks to make
certain you stay within the time limit. Organization is key!
PRESENTATION:
One person should act as facilitator,
introducing the group members as well as the questions to be discussed. Present
your information in a direct, conversational and interesting style. DO NOT READ
YOUR NOTES.
EVALUATION:
Your presentation will be evaluated on value
or interest of the material presented, clarity of presentation, degree of preparation,
and communicative effectiveness.
QUESTIONS RE: GROUP PROCESS:
- What was the biggest technical issue your group encountered during
the Requirements Analysis Phase or the Software Design Phase, and how did
you resolve it?
- What feature or features of your Software Requirements
Specification or your Software Design do you think makes your project
unique or better than the competition? That is, if you were in competition
with the other groups for a contract to develop the proposed software, how
would you try to "sell" your requirements analysis to the
customer as the best one?
- What was the biggest difficulty you had with respect to the group
process in completing the team projects, and how did you deal with it?
- What is the most important thing you and/or your team learned about
Software Engineering as a result of the team projects?
