Design, Implementation, and Testing

1.      Student Learning Outcome: An ability to apply design and development principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity -- focus: design, implementation, and testing

 

2.     Evidence to be Used in the Assessment:

 

a.      Project Reports from Comp 380/380L/490/490L/491

 

3.      Assessment Dates:  2011 - 2012

 

4.      Assessment Activities to be Performed, When and by Whom:

 

a.      2011 Spring semester. Establish a three member subcommittee to assess implementation and testing. This subcommittee will be responsible for all of the assessment work below. Currently the subcommittee is Diane Schwartz, Robert Lingard and George Wang.

 

b.      End of 2011Spring semester. Develop rubrics for assessing the quality of student design, implementation and testing work.

 

c.      2011 Fall semester. Assess the project reports used for the SLO j according to the established criteria. The projects will be assessed by the Software Engineering Assessment subcommittee:  Diane Schwartz, Robert Lingard and George Wang.

 

d.      End of 2011 Fall semester. Prepare an assessment summary report for the department including recommendations for program improvement.

 

e.      2012 Spring semester. Based on the outcome of the first assessment, update rubrics for assessment, if necessary

 

f.       2012 Fall semester. Assess the project reports used for the SLO j according to the established criteria.

 

g.      End of 2012 Fall semester. Prepare an assessment summary report for the department including recommendations for program improvement.
