Application of Basic Concepts and Tools (Current Technologies)

1.                Student Learning Outcome: Be able to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.

 

2.               Evidence to be Used in the Assessment:

 

a.      Questions embedded on final exams of COMP282, COMP232, COMP380, and COMP490 of skills, technologies, and tools utilized from students in core courses.

b.     Faculty survey on current technology and tools they expose students on their courses

 

3.               Assessment Dates : 2011-2013

 

4.               Assessment Activities to be Performed, When and by Whom:

 

a.      Fall 2011. Establish a three member subcommittee to assess use of current technologies.  This subcommittee will be responsible for all of the assessment work below.

 

b.     Fall 2011.Establish a faculty survey to investigate the technology, tools and the required depth of applicability expected

 

c.      Fall 2011 Administer the survey and collect information to establish questions and rubrics for assessing the ability to use current techniques, skill, and tool

 

d.     Spring 2012. Add the questions to final exams of the above selected courses.

 

e.      Fall 2012.  Collect and analyzed the data. 

 

f.      Fall 2012. Prepare an assessment summary report for the department including recommendations for program’s improvement.

 

g.     Fall2012. Revise methodology, questions and/or rubrics as necessary;

 

h.     Fall2012.  Re-administer – Add questions to final exam of selected courses.

 

i.       Spring 2013. Collect and analyzed the data.

 

j.       Spring 2013.  Prepare an assessment summary report for the department including recommendations for program’s improvement.
