Howard Hughes Medical Institute Competition

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) announced a $60 million dollar competition for science education grants to colleges and universities interested in increasing their capacity to effectively engage all students in science throughout their undergraduate years, especially those who come to college via non-traditional pathways.

The new competition will be open to U.S. colleges and universities that award the baccalaureate degree in the natural sciences and are fully accredited, not-for-profit, four-year institutions. It does exclude the 40 universities already awarded 2014 HHMI grants.

Announced May 12th, the first winners will be named in May 2017. The Intent to Apply deadline is July 14, 2015. Pre-proposals are due December 1, 2015. Complete details are available at the competition's web page, Inclusive Excellence: Engaging all students in science .
