Education:

Nirmal Kumar Mishra received the Doctor of Engineering Science (D. Eng.Sc.) in electrical engineering from Newark College, New Jersey Institute of Technology (1972). He also has a B.E. (Honors) in telecommunications engineering (Saugor, 1955), M.E. in telecommunications engineering (Jabalpur, 1959), and M.S.E.E. in electrical engineering (Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, 1963). Between 1960 and 1978 he provided professional services to several educational and medical institutes.

In 1978 Dr. Mishra joined the electrical engineering department of California State University, Northridge, as a Lecturer. He became Associate Professor (79), Professor (82), Interim Associate Dean (93-94), and Professor Emeritus (98).

Area of Research/Teaching:

Linear and nonlinear control systems, and biomedical engineering. In biomedical engineering his focus is in the areas of instrumentation, signal analysis, neuromuscular dynamics, and cardio-pulmonary systems analysis and modeling.

He has over 20 years of teaching experience at California State University, Northridge. He has taught numerous courses and developed laboratories. His major courses have been in undergraduate and graduate level courses in control systems and biomedical engineering.
