IEEE Accomplishments – I have been an IEEE volunteer for the past 33 years. On the IEEE Educational Activities Board, I have chaired the Awards and Recognition Committee and the Pre-University Committee to lead and help deliver signature EAB programs. As Treasurer and Trustee of IEEE-HKN, the Honor society, I helped organize the budget and establish priorities aligned to the Board’s long term strategic plan. I have served as an ABET Program Evaluator and I currently represent IEEE on the ABET Board of Directors, supporting quality assurance and innovation in accredited programs.

As Sacramento Section Chair, and Region 6 Central Area Chair I developed industry support and organized career fairs to serve IEEE members. I founded, and led the IEEE LEOS Chapter in the Sacramento Section that received awards as the Most Innovative Chapter for its diverse programs (1993 and 2006), and Membership Growth in 1992. I guided Student Branches to organize Student Professional Awareness Conferences inspiring students to remain active and transition to leadership roles in IEEE. This promoted membership growth and retention, leading to award winning programs at CSU Sacramento and CSU Northridge, and a Region 6 Community Service Award for my leadership in promoting pre-engineering programs for K-12 teachers.

Statement – I have served the IEEE in leadership roles at Chapter, Section, Area and Region and Board levels. I value my association with IEEE and will use my extensive experience working with several organizations, and non- profit boards to address the challenges that we face, and serve IEEE effectively. If elected as the IEEE Region 6 Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect I will:

  • Champion the Region’s needs effectively on the Board of Directors
  • Build a strong team to provide prudent fiscal leadership, and support Sections to monitor, evaluate and deliver programs of value to IEEE members and the Region 6 community
  • Emphasize strategic planning, teamwork and leadership development for Section Officers
  • Strengthen relations between IEEE and industry to enhance the profession and support members’ activities
  • Heighten awareness of engineering in pre-collegestudents and especially women and minorities

Together, we can develop and sustain our membership base; promote awareness and increase industry support for IEEE members’ activities, and reinforce key benefits that are valued by our members. It is an honor and a privilege to be nominated. I would appreciate your vote.
