skramesh.jpgDear friends,

SPECTRA is back with recent news and highlights from the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University, Northridge! This is a special year for the University as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. This marks my third year at CSUN and I have really enjoyed getting to know the community and working with you. We have done very well during the past year. The quality of our programs and our graduates, and the dedication and commitment of our faculty and staff to serve our students is truly outstanding. Enrollments are up significantly from a year ago with over 2,400 students in the college, and thanks to our ACCESS program we have a thriving outreach effort at over a dozen area high schools.

CECS students had a spectacular year, winning prizes and recognition in regional and national competitions. In the air, on water, or on the ground, CECS students demonstrated their proficiency and skills winning prizes in contests involving Unmanned Autonomous Helicopters, Concrete Canoes, Formula Cars, Intelligent Ground Vehicles, and Electric Bicycles to name a few.

Further validation of the quality of our programs came with the overwhelming positive recommendation from ABET where all of the programs reviewed in the College came through with flying colors. Our success is not just about doing different things, but doing things differently and always being there for our Students.

We are developing new programs to meet emerging workforce needs in areas such as Assistive Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering. Please contact us if you would like additional information about any of our projects or if you want to explore opportunities to work together. We are on the right track, but as Will Rogers might say that may not be enough for we need to be moving or we will get run over! Our ability to collaborate and reach out across disciplinary boundaries is the common thread that underpins our success. Thanks to your support and contributions, I am confident that we will continue to do just that as we look ahead to continued success in the future.
