Bianci Watches Project
Bianci Watches is a small watch company located in Calabasas, CA. In 2012, Bianci Watches was struggling with several operating difficulties including: low brand awareness and sales, a website that was difficult to navigate and an outdated inventory system. A group of California State University of Northridge (CSUN) business and engineering students collaborated under the direction of Dr Mark Rajai to develop product solutions and a strategic marketing plan for Bianci Watches.
Students helped Bianci Watches address problem areas related to sales, website design and inventory control. In order to help Bianci increase sales, students researched competitive products to give Bianci Watches an understanding of the competition. Students also completed a patent search and developed several design concepts for new products for the company. The new product designs were created with input from research and surveys conducted to identify Bianci’s target market and the needs and requirements of their customers.
Research was also conducted in an effort to help Bianci Watches improve their website. Students researched websites for similar products and identified aspects from various sites that could be incorporated into Bianci’s website.
The Inventory control concerns were addressed by the students through research into commercially available inventory software. Students also researched scanning technology that is available for Bianci Watches’ current inventory software.
Through the project, business and engineering students were able to provide valuable insight to Bianci Watches on their target market as well as the wants and needs of their customers. Students provided several new design concepts to the company based on market surveys. Students also made suggestions regarding website design and inventory management to address Bianci Watches’ areas of concern
